The Institute of Experimental Cancer Therapy at TUM Klinikum Rechts der Isar invites applications for a Scientific Administrator / Scientific Project Manager to support the international DEFEAT-PDAC consortium. DEFEAT-PDAC is a German Cancer Aid-funded, interdisciplinary research network within the German Pancreatic Cancer Alliance involving 13 partner sites in Germany and North America. The consortium aims to decode and therapeutically target the pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) ecosystem, with a particular focus on cancer–immune interactions, therapy resistance, translational model systems, data integration, patient involvement and the development of innovative combination therapies.

The successful candidate will work closely with Prof. Dieter Saur, the consortium leadership, scientific project leaders, integrative platforms, clinical and data-science partners, patient advocates and external stakeholders. This position is ideal for a highly organized scientist or science manager who enjoys coordinating complex collaborative research and translating scientific progress into clear reports, workflows and communication formats.

Aufgaben

  • Scientific coordination of the DEFEAT-PDAC consortium and its national and international partner sites
  • Project controlling, including monitoring of milestones, deliverables, timelines, and reporting obligations
  • Preparation, consolidation and editing of scientific reports, progress updates, presentations, publication lists, SOPs and internal documentation
  • Organization of steering committee meetings, quarterly progress meetings, workshops, annual retreats, conferences and outreach events
  • Interface function between scientists, patient representatives, administrative units, funding bodies and external partners
  • Support for grant management, including funding reports, amendments, follow-up applications
  • Documentation and quality assurance of consortium workflows, project decisions, action items, shared resources and scientific outputs.
  • Support of dissemination and communication activities, including newsletters, web content, social media, press materials and public/patient-oriented communication.
  • Coordination of education, training and early-career researcher activities within the consortium.

Profil

  • University degree in life sciences, medicine, molecular biology, bioinformatics, biotechnology, biomedical sciences or a related field; a PhD is mandatory.
  • Experience in scientific project coordination, research management, grant writing and administration, reporting or coordination of collaborative research networks.
  • Good understanding of translational biomedical research; experience in oncology, immunology, molecular medicine, data science, pancreatic cancer research.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to track parallel workstreams, deadlines and deliverables with high reliability.
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills in English and German (C1); ability to draft and edit scientific and administrative texts clearly and accurately.
  • Confident interaction with senior scientists, clinicians, administrative offices, funding agencies, patient advocates and external partners.
  • Experience with event organization, digital project-management tools, website content management, newsletters or social media communication is an advantage.
  • Structured, proactive, service-oriented and team-minded working style, combined with analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to consortium meetings and national partner sites.
